On December 12, 2022, Keller ISD’s Board of Trustees approved revisions to policies CKC (Local) and DH (Local) that allow the District to explore additional safety options to protect our schools. 

Keller ISD is not immediately implementing any changes based on these revisions, but administrators will now begin the work of building programs that fit the specific needs of our schools, taking into account the size of our District, law enforcement response times, and existing safety measures already in place. 

Any additional programming will only be a small part of the District’s much larger, multi-layered approach to keeping campuses secure. In addition to employing 16 school resource officers (SROs) – police officers with the Fort Worth PD and Keller PD stationed on Keller ISD campuses – the District employs a number of systems, training programs, and cutting-edge security tools to keep students and employees safe. 

As new security programs are developed, these pages will be updated with the latest information on the program’s progress; details about the standards, safeguards, and oversight that will be implemented; and answers to any commonly asked questions. 

In November and December 2022, Keller ISD surveyed parents and employees about their level of satisfaction with the status of current safety and security protocols, as well as their level of interest in additional security measures being considered by District administrators and the Board of Trustees.
