• Formal art instruction is offered at the elementary level at all campuses in Keller ISD. Students are introduced to the elements of art and continue through basic design, methods and materials. Beginning at the seventh grade level student may select art as an elective. By challenging their imaginations with new techniques and materials, the students refine their skills by expressing their thoughts and ideas creatively. All students are given the opportunity to participate in the annual district-wide art competition and show.

General music instruction begins in kindergarten as all elementary children work with certified music specialists through the fifth grade. Participation in the district elementary honor choir is offered to fourth graders. Students are engaged in a variety of activities where they listen to music of the highest quality and sing, move, and perform a rich mixture of folk, seasonal, and patriotic music. Most of the teachers use Kodaly and Orff techniques. Most elementary schools have an after school honors choir.

Theatre instruction is offered at many elementary campuses throughout the district. Here, students develop concepts about self, human relationships, and the environment, using elements of drama and conventions of theatre. Students learn creative expression through performance, the history and cultural relevance of theatre in our society, and the ability to critically evaluate themselves as well as their peers. Students also learn and utilize soft skills such as the value of a firm handshake, appropriate eye contact, and the ability to carry on a conversation with adults and peers.
