Two Keller High School swimmers had the opportunity to represent more than their school recently, as junior Maximus Williamson and senior Cooper Lucas competed for Team USA at the World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships on September 4-9, bringing home plenty of hardware for the red, white, and blue. 

Hosted in Netanya, Israel, Williamson and Cooper – members of the reigning State Champion KHS Boys Swim Team – advanced to the finals of nine different races over the six-day competition. Williamson came away with gold medals in two individual races and four relays, setting records along the way and earning "Male Swimmer of the Meet" honors. 

Williamson finished first in the Men’s 100-Meter Freestyle with a time of 48.45 and in the Men’s 200-Meter Individual Medley with a Championship Record time of 1:57.29. He also swam the second leg of the USA’s first-place 4x100 Free Relay, helping the team to a World Junior and Championship Record time of 3:15.49.  He also swam the anchor of the Mixed 4x100 Medley Relay and the Men’s 4x100 Medley Relay, both of which won gold. Williamson also won a silver medal as part of the Mixed 4x100 Free Relay. 

In the Men’s 4x200 Free Relay, Williamson and Lucas got to team up, swimming the first two legs of the race that saw the US collect another gold medal. Lucas also made the finals in two other individual races, finishing fifth in the Men’s 400 Individual Medley and seventh in the Men’s 200 Free.
