CHS Powerlifters Set Records at State Meet

Central High sent four girls powerlifters to the Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Association (THSWPA) State Meet on Wednesday, March 15, in Frisco, and two student-athletes set new state records with their performances.

CHS was led by junior Ruthie Sanchez, the reigning two-time State Champion. While Sanchez fell just short of the three-peat, she finished in second place in the 259+ Class and set a new state record for her division, squatting 605 pounds.

Chargers junior Milka Folly Gah also had a strong showing in the 181 Class. On her way to a fourth-place finish, she set a new state record by deadlifting 450 pounds.

The rest of the team also had impressive performances, with junior Samantha Morin finishing 10th in the 259 Class and junior Bella Kelly finishing 15th in the 132 Class.

Congratulations to these outstanding CHS powerlifters on a fantastic State Meet and an amazing season!
