The Independence Elementary Green Team is in charge of the daily, school-wide collection of recyclable materials which is then retrieved by an outside company who pays the school for the collected material.

IES 3rd-grade students interested in participating on our Green Team are asked to submit an application and essay along with a teacher referral. Applications are reviewed by our teacher sponsors who focus on the following criteria: students who could work well without direct supervision, students with a good work ethic, and students who worked well in groups. Applications are then narrowed down to 22 Green Team members.
