Independence Elementary is one of more than 43,000 schools worldwide that incorporates cup stacking as a part of their units taught during P.E. classes.

Each fall, IES students look forward to improving their agility, concentration, and quickness in stacking cups in the patterns of 3-3-3, 3-6-3, and the Cycle.

Near the conclusion of the unit, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-grade students will have the opportunity to try out for the IES Cup Stacking Team who will participate in the KISD Cup Stacking Tournament in March. Students chosen for the team have demonstrated that they can consistently stack the cups in the correct pattern and are the fastest in their grade level.
