Engineering Design & Problem Solving

Engineering Design and Problem Solving (EDPS) is a full year, full credit, Senior capstone course for the Project Lead the Way Pathway to Engineering program.  Students must have completed a minimum of two other high school PLTW courses as a prerequisite for EDPS.  This course involves extensive research in designing and constructing solutions to an open-ended engineering problem. In EDPS, you will work in teams to research, design, and construct solutions. You will apply principles developed in the preceding courses and are guided by mentors. You must present progress reports, submit a final written report and defend your solutions to a panel of outside reviewers at the end of the school year.

Engineering Design & Problem Solving   I    Principles of Interior Design

Since 2007, my journey has been dynamic. Following my graduation from the University of Texas (Arlington), I delved into the realm of nuclear chemistry in Denton, dedicated to creating medicines for Alzheimer's. Swiftly reaching maximum radiation levels, I transitioned to the role of Quality Assurance Manager. In this capacity, I contributed to crafting procedures, manuals, and overseeing various lab functions, including calculations, tests, and scheduling.

Remaining in the Quality Assurance field for a few more years across different facilities, I found my knack for teaching. Having been the constant teacher/trainer in every setting, I decided to venture into education. To my delight, I discovered a profound love for teaching children. My teaching journey began in KISD, and I've since explored various teaching environments, including charter, private, online, and eventually returning to KISD where I now teach Engineering Design and Problem Solving.

My teaching experience spans diverse subjects and grade levels,  such as Science, Biology, Chemistry, Math, Grammar, Literature, Yearbook, Special Education, Photography, AVTV, and Engineering. I am certified in several engineering classes through PLTW, and I am thrilled to teach the capstone course this year. I am brimming with excitement and countless ideas to inspire and guide my students.

Beyond teaching, my passion lies in photography and graphic design. Exploring techy apps and bringing images, sites, and more to life captivates me. As a creator at heart, I look forward to making this class a dream and sharing my expertise in every aspect of our design processes with my students.
