Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program designed to improve reading comprehension and enthusiasm for reading using a fun and unique competition format. 

Participants are given a reading list of ten books and challenged to read as many books on the list as possible within a three to four month timeframe. Students will compete in teams to determine their knowledge and understanding of the books. This year’s books have been carefully selected to include a variety of genres, reading levels, and themes. This assortment of current and previous Texas Bluebonnet Award nominees and KISD Chuckwagon List books provides a selection to appeal to reluctant as well as enthusiastic and mature readers. All Battle of the Books selections are available for check out through the school library.
