    Dear Keller ISD Parent,

Attendance plays an important role in the success of our students at our High School, and state law mandates that students attend class at least 90% of the time – which means students may not have 10 or more absences in 1st and 8th periods and may not have 6 or more absences in 2nd - 7th periods for the spring semester.

In high school, students must meet attendance criteria, along with grade criteria, in order to receive course credit. If students exceed the number of absences, they must complete seat time hours through tutorials or specified opportunities as determined by campus administration to make their time up. Failure to receive credit for courses will require your student to complete credit recovery, attend summer school, or retake the class again.

Your child’s attendance record is fluid. It changes every single time they miss a class period. We will communicate with you every two to three weeks, but ultimately you and your student are responsible for their attendance and knowing their status as it relates to losing credit.

Students will bring the attached form to each seat time completion opportunity they attend. This form must be signed by the appropriate staff member and will be verified by administration.

The options to complete seat time hours at Central High School are as follows:

    1) Tuesday/Thursday after school lab from 4-5pm in the Lecture Hall (3rd floor).

    2) Saturday School on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Students must arrive by 7:55 a.m. to meet the assigned staff member at the front entrance of our campus. (Ray White Rd. & Kroger Dr.)

    3) Students can spend time outside of the school day attending tutorials with their current academic teacher to enhance/reinforce their knowledge of instruction.

*Attending a required practice or rehearsal for athletics/fine arts is not an acceptable form of completion of seat time hours.

If you feel there is an attendance code error, please check your student's attendance in Aeries. If corrections need to be made, contact the appropriate attendance clerk:
