Arrival / Dismissal Info

  • WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MY CHILD COMING TO SCHOOL IN THE MORNING?

The duty personnel will direct the traffic movement and unloading of students. During arrival, there will only be one lane to use to drop your child off. If you wish, you can park your car in a parking spot to walk with your child in the designated crosswalk area to the front door. For the safety of you and your child, students may never be dropped off in the parking lot at any time. They must either be walked to school from a parking spot, or dropped off in the designated lane closest to the building. Students may enter the building at 7:25 and go to the cafeteria. Beginning at 7:40,  your child(ren) will walk to their classroom.

If your student rides his/her bike in the morning, we will have two bike racks. They will be located on the east and west sides of our building. Students may enter through the front or back of the building depending on which bike rack they are using. The bike rack near the 1st-grade wing will enter through the front entrance. The bike rack near the Kindergarten wing will enter through the back entrance. Don’t forget to discuss with your child how they will get home each day. We strongly recommend that students go home on the first day the same way they will go home the rest of the school year.

IT'S 3:25 PM AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MY CHILD! WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DISMISSAL IF I AM PICKING MY CHILD UP IN THE CAR LINE?

Please remember to follow our traffic pattern and ALWAYS have your pick-up sign clearly showing through your windshield.

All older siblings will be picked up at the youngest sibling’s dismissal location.

Kindergarten and 1st grade families will pick up their child(ren) at the back of the building. 2nd through 5th grade families will pick up their child(ren) in the front of the building.

2nd grade families who are picking their child(ren) up in the car line must be in the LEFT LANE. This is the Gold Paw Lane

3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families who are picking up their child in the car line must be in the RIGHT LANE. This is White Paw lane.

Everyone must turn right in to our drive from Canchim Street. You may be tempted to turn left into our drive if you are coming from Horseman Road however this is not permitted due to potential back up on Horseman.

Remember, older siblings will go to the designated area of their younger sibling(s). If you ever have a change of plans and want to pick up your child a different way, just call the front office by 2:30 so that we can let your child know where to go. If you e-mail the child's teacher, you must also let the office know (as often times teachers are unable to check e-mail while they are teaching).

WHAT IF MY CHILD IS RIDING THE BUS OR ON A DAYCARE VAN?

If your child is riding the yellow bus home, the first couple of days may be a bit behind schedule. Our staff members take extra steps to ensure that all students who are supposed to be on the yellow bus are accounted for. Students will be escorted to our gym and will be taken to the yellow bus when it arrives. If your child rides a daycare bus/van, they will be escorted to our gym and will be taken to the bus/van when it arrives. Many times the daycare bus/van has multiple pick-ups and may arrive late. When that happens, students will be escorted to the front office. The daycare bus/van knows to come to the front circle drive. If you ever have a change of plans and want to pick up your child a different way, just call the front office by 2:30 so that we can let your child know where to go.

MY CHILD WALKS OR RIDES HIS/HER BIKE? WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

We will have two groups of students who walk or ride their bike. One group of students will walk or ride to homes from Canchim Street. Our teachers will leave the building with these students and will walk with them all the way to the crosswalk at Canchim & Horseman. Students who have their bikes must walk their bikes to this point. The other group of students are students who walk or ride to homes from Aubrac Way. These students will be escorted from the exit at the back of our school where they will be able to safely cross the street. Students who have their bikes must walk their bike to this point.

If you ever have a change of plans and want to pick up your child a different way, just call the front office by 2:30 so that we can let your child know where to go.

THE CAR LINE IS REALLY LONG AND MY CHILD IS WAITING FOR ME IN THE CAR PICK UP LINE. CAN I JUST PARK AND WALK UP TO THE BUILDING AND GET HIM/HER?

No. If you park in our front parking area during dismissal, you may have a difficult time getting back out. Our dismissal traffic will take up two lanes. Should you walk up and ask a teacher or staff member for help in finding your child, that means they are unable to keep their attention on the safety of the other students waiting for their car. Our teachers and staff typically get to know the cars that have come through and if a student has been picked up in this manner, it is a cause of concern.

OH NO! I FORGOT MY "PICK UP SIGN"! WHAT DO I DO?

Please park your car, cross safely at our crosswalk and come to the office. We will give you a slip of paper letting the teacher on duty know you are there to pick up your child. If you need an additional sign(s), just let our front office staff know. We can print another one for you. Remember that you will need a "pick up sign" if you pick up by car OR if your student is Kinder or 1st grade student with no older students.
